Für eine besondere Verzierung meiner Getränke bei festlichen Anlässen habe ich essbaren Glitzer erworben. Hier sind meine Eindrücke:

I just received a single 5g pouch of this edible glitter/shimmer power for drinks to try. I was hoping for a full box, since it was my daughter’s 18th birthday and we were having a party for her. It came in a resealable pouch and you simply pour it into your drink. It was only after I’d dumped the whole sachet into one drink did I realise that you use the 5g pouch for up to 25 drinks – DOH!.

It didn’t noticed any smell to it and didn’t notice any taste to it when added to some prosecco. It fairly quickly dissolved into the drink and created a really nice, gold shimmering effect – hopefully you can see this in the video I uploaded with this review.

If the drink is left to stand, it initially stays suspended in it, then will sink to the bottom of the glass. Leaving an “orange squash “ like colour to the prosecco. When you pick the glass up and start to move it around, it starts to remix and creates the effect again.

The fact I put the whole sachet into one drink did sort of mess up my test somewhat, but even with all that power in, I still couldn’t taste it. Which is a plus.

At just under 28p/drink, I suppose it’s not bad for those special occasions, parties and as an added twist to cocktails

I was actually really impressed with this. It looked just like the seller's main picture.

Disclaimer though, is that the shimmery, marbled effect vanishes after about a minute of not being stirred (or shaken if you're that way inclined). The grains can sink to the bottom of the glass and make it look like a yellow drink with sand in the bottom. Easily fixed with a quick stir though.

I used these in cocktails I made for a Harry Potter-themed cocktail party with friends and everyone complimented them. They looked great and the sprinkles really are tasteless, so they didn't impact the flavour at all (I mixed them in with a classic pornstar martini recipe).

Be mindful of how much you use though - a little can go a long way and if you use too much (as I did when experimenting), it gives the drink an odd neutral flavour that's subtle, but odd and somewhat off-putting. The closest thing I can compare it to is flour.

Oh and another danger of using too much is you might have an interesting-coloured pee the next morning.

But overall, it looked great and really stole the show.

This arrives in a TINY resealable pouch, not dissimilar to other fancy powders that you pay a premium for.

Open with care as this stuff sticks to everything. Less is more with this too. I added a tiny spoon about the size of my pinky nail to a large glug of rum and the whole glass turned an opaque yellow. Hmm i thought.... But give it a swirl and it begins to shimmer and shine. It really looks beautiful and interesting.

If you do let it calm it will turn opaque and slowly sink again. The more it's watered down the better, you'll see more of the sparkle and shinmer and less of a yellow opaque.

This would work really well in sparkling drinks. The bubbles would save you doing the swirling round.

From 1 packet you can easily have enough for 6 drinks. So this would be great for a party or special occasion to make it more interesting.

Taste wise it didn't alter the taste and it goes down easily. There's no gritty texture or unpleasantness.
